Tamara Taggart anchors CTV News at Six weeknights with Mike
Killeen.
As a veteran broadcaster, a third generation Vancouverite
and busy working mother, Tamara comes to the anchor chair with a lot of
experience, passion and a deep understanding of what matters to Metro Vancouver
residents. Recent highlights of her long television career include
co-hosting CTV’s widely-praised coverage of the 2013 Provincial Election and
the 2011 Stanley Cup Riot. In the field, Tamara reports on a range of
important issues, from women with HIV to rare diseases affecting children.
She’s proud to be the Chair of the BC Women’s Hospital “Hope
Starts Here” campaign, helping to raise $17 million dollars for a new Newborn
Intensive Care Unit at BC Women’s Hospital. She also sits on the boards at The
Kettle Friendship Society, the Pacific Parkland Foundation and The Children's
Wish Foundation of Canada. Tamara is also a big supporter of the Developmental
Disabilities Association and the BC Centre for Ability. Tamara is a founding
board member of the Rare Disease Foundation.
Tamara has been with CTV British Columbia since 1997,
including stints as co-host of Vancouver Breakfast as well as the weathercaster
for CTV News at Five, CTV News at Six and CTV News at 11:30. In 2009, Tamara
spent a memorable morning filling in as the co-host of Live! With Regis and
Kelly in New York City.
Tamara is the recipient of many broadcasting awards,
including Best Local TV Anchors (with anchor Mike Killeen), Best Local TV
Weather Person and Best Local TV Personality from The Georgia Straight “Best of
Vancouver” annual readers’ choice poll. The WE readers' poll voted Tamara Best
Weathercaster and Favourite Television Personality. She was honoured as the
"Woman of the Year" at the Consumer's Choice Awards and The TV Week
readers' choice awards has named Tamara their Favourite TV Personality,
Favourite Weather Personality and Favourite TV Special Features Reporter.
Tamara and her husband David Genn have three children – son
Beckett and daughters Zoë and
Poppy. They also share their home with Stanley, their Airedale Terrier. In her
spare time, Tamara enjoys gardening, interior design, hosting parties and
playing outside with her family. Tamara's growing family has provided lots of
